The CASAA (Context Ad-Serving and Analytics) module is slated for full release at the end July. An exact date has not been determined as of yet.
This full release signifies three points in the development of the system itself, one, the branching of the system in a form that is fully adaptable to a wider range of sites by supporting more plug-ins and being more lightweight in code and performance; two, features and enhancements have been added to provide a better workflow and increase the usability for users; and three, it signifies my efforts to force myself to work on a deadline to meet the demand for the system (plus, get off my lazy ass :) ).
For those of you that remember the change from the Views module to the Views 2, the change from CMF to CASAA is going to be very similar in that the work flow and interface are going to go through a major overhaul but, the results are going to be the same but with extended functionality and usability with a minimum shift in the learning curve for new and old users.
In terms of development and such, the plug-in developer's API is not changing at all so, all existing plug-ins that worked for the CMF are compatible with the CASAA module.
Some of the features/changes that will be available include but, are not limited to:
- Wildcard functionality for URL path settings.
- Less cluttered interface, to make it easier on the eyes.
- Options to select which plug-ins settings will be applied to without having to worry about defaults values.
- Improved handling for configuring/editing and deleting settings.
- jQuery/AJAX drag/drop functionality for users to organize tax term weight settings
- Automatic parent/child relationship between tax terms recognition to help in default term weighting
- ... and who knows?
I'm really excited about this future release and hope that this it becomes the system that I originally dreamed of and designed. Ever since last November when the system went in to the design phase I've been envisioning the evolution of the system in to something that could be one the key modules for Drupal alongside CCK and Views. Maybe it can be.
